DIY Mother's day Pop-up Flower Card

Hey Invaders!! Mother’s day is coming up. If you don’t know yet what to give to your mom, why not give her a greeting card? There are lots of ready-made greeting cards in the market, but I'm pretty sure that our moms would appreciate handmade / personalized greeting cards even more.

You should definitely check out this DIY project. A pop-up flower card that's made with love 🌺 💕

This pop-up card may seem difficult to do, but trust me! It's easy when you follow every step listed below.

Here are the materials you’ll need:

- Card stock
- 7 Colored paper (4x4 inches)
                                                    - Double-sided tape / Glue stick
                                                    - Colored pencils / pens
                                                    - Scissors

Follow the instructions carefully:

  • Get one square of colored paper, and fold it twice. (Use the images below as a guide)

1.
2.

  • You formed a tiny square. Now, fold up one flap diagonally.

  • Flip the whole square over.
  • Fold up the other flap. Now, it’s triangular.
  • Cut whatever shape you want for the flower. Below, I have 3 samples of flower shapes that you can choose from.

  •       In this project, I will use pattern #1.

  • Unfold it. Use coloring pencils/pens to decorate the flowers. You can leave 2 petals undecorated because we will cut it later.

  • Cut 1 petal (undecorated).

  • Close the gap by overlapping the petals (the undecorated one should be at the bottom). Secure it using glue stick or double-sided tape.

  •        Here's what the flower should looks like.

  •  Repeat the folding, coloring, cutting, and gluing steps on the remaining 6 papers. You should now have 7 adorable flowers.

  • Now, the next steps are kinda tricky. For it to be easy, lay the petals the exact way I did. Apply glue or double-sided tape on the areas where there are white boxes.

  • We will now attach the flowers together. Just follow the illustration.

Your flower stack should look like this.

    • We will now work on the card itself. Get your card stock, and decorate the front page of the card if you want. The photo below is the back of my card stock. It will be the inside of the card where the flowers will be.

    • Lay the card open. Place the folded flower stock on the right part of the card. Apply double-sided tape on the marked area.

    • Close the card, and press it firmly to adhere.

    • Open the card and do the previous step on the other part.

    •  Tadaaaaa!!! You now have a Pop-up flower card. 🌺

    • I've decided to use decorative scissors on the edges of the card to make it more lovely.

    • If you want, you can write short messages on the free space around the flowers to make your card more personalized and more from the heart 💕

Here’s what my card looks like after I write short quotes and messages.
    Open me pleaaaassee 🙏

    YAAAAASSS! 😍 💕

It might not be as expensive as material gifts, but this card is very special because you dedicated your time and heart on making it. I’m pretty sure that our moms would love receiving this lovely card. 👍 💞
