Ways To Beat Procrastination

(c) memegenerator.net

Have you experienced that moment when you have a lot of tasks needed to be done and you don't know where to begin with? Then you ended up contemplating your whole life and finishing not even a single task. Well, you're not alone, I've done it a numerous time!. Today, I'm gonna share with you some ways that helps me beat procrastination. Here they are:

  • Plan Ahead
I find it difficult to get a task done when I don't know what to get done. The solution is to make a Task list / To-do list. You can write your list in a notebook, sticky note, index card, or on a to-do list sheet. (Click HERE to download for free the Printable To-do List Sheet that I made). Put the most important task at the top and the least important task at the bottom. Then, one by one, go through the items on your list, do them, and cross them off once they're done.

  • Eliminate Distractions
Distractions are everywhere, you need to avoid it in order to do your tasks efficiently. Social media websites prevent us to give our full attention in doing a task. Click HERE to find out how to temporarily block distracting websites. If you're going to study, be sure to do it in a quiet and well lit place. Don't study in a room where you can be easily distracted by TV, video games, etc.

  • Think About Your Goals In Life
You might find yourself lacking in motivation or feeling lazy, just remind yourself of your goals in life. Let's say that currently you're a student, your goals are to graduate with a degree, to get a decent job, and to have a better life. Always consider that a small task (like doing your homework) is also stepping stone for you to reach your goals.

  • Time Yourself
" The Pomodoro Technique is a time management philosophy that aims to provide the user with maximum focus and creative freshness, thereby allowing them to complete projects faster with less mental fatigue.

The process is simple. For every project throughout the day, you budget your time into short increments and take breaks periodically. You work for 25 minutes, then take break for five minutes.

Each 25-minute work period is called a “pomodoro”, named after the Italian word for tomato. Francesco Cirillo used a kitchen timer shaped like a tomato as his personal timer, and thus the method’s name." - Lifehack.org

  • Last Tip!
Stop reading this post and go back to work! :). I hope the that tips above will help you to beat procrastination and become more productive.

Simple Math Techniques

Math is difficult? These quick and easy math techniques is perfect for you.

1. Calculate multiplications of 6,7,8,9 by using your fingers.

  • Assign numbers to every finger, the pinky being number 6 and the thumb being number 10.

  • If you wish to calculate 7x8 (pictured below), touch the assigned fingers.

  • The number of fingers below, including the touching fingers, is the tens. (Pictured below, 5 fingers = 5 tens or 50)

  • Now, multiply the remainder fingers to find the units. (in the example, 3 fingers multiplied by 2 fingers = 6)
  • Add the units to the tens, and you have the result – 56.

2. Secrets to remembering the numbers of Pi.

3. Figure out multiples of 9.

4. How to add and subtract fractions.

Butterfly Fractions
  •     Write the fractions side-by-side as usual and draw two wings along the diagonals made by the numerator of one fraction and the denominator of the other fraction and draw an antenna on each wing.
  •     As suggested by the wings, that look like a multiplication signmultiply the numbers in each wing and put the product in the antenna for the wing.
  •     Think or say: “This poor butterfly needs a body.” To give it a body, connect the bottom parts of the wings with a body-like loop and multiply the two denominators it connects, putting the product inside the body.
  •     Add or subtract the numbers in the antennae in keeping with what is being done to the fractions and put the result over the number in the body. If necessary, reduce or simplify the result.

The butterflies below for 3/4 + 2/5 and 3/4 – 2/5 illustrate the procedure. The only difference in subtracting the fractions versus adding them is in the last step where the numbers in the antennae are subtracted instead of added.

5. How to multiply by 11.

I hope that you find these techniques helpful :) Good luck!

[Free Printable] Simple To-Do List

I use to have a lot tasks to do, and I always struggle on deciding what I should do first. One thing that helps me is to make a to-do list.

To-do lists are key for efficiency because you list everything that you have to do, the most important tasks at the top, and the least important tasks at the bottom.

I want to share to you the to-do list templates that I've created. The designs are very simple and neat. You can choose what you like to use, the weekly to-do list or the daily to-do list. Currently, I'm using the weekly one :)

DIY Notepad

Notepad is a must for me! I use it every single day. I write there my to-do lists, things to bring, phone numbers, etc.

A new semester started last month, so I need a brand new notepad. I look for a notepad at the craft store nearby, but I can't find the size and design I want. Since I'm a crafty gal, I've decided to customize my notepad.

Things you'll need are:

- Stack of paper
- Thin piece of cardboard

- Glue
- Paint brush
- Binder clips
- Precision knife / scissors
- Pencil

Steps:
  • First, you'll need your paper. You can use a plain paper, but if you want ruled paper you can print by clicking HERE. Once you've got your paper, cut it according to the size you prefer. Mine is 3.5 by 3.5 inches.
  • Next, you'll need a cardboard (from Kleenex box, cereal box, or shoe box). I got mine from a shoe box. Using a pencil, trace the size of the paper onto the cardboard. You'll need two cardboards, one for the back and one for the cover. Cut it out using precision knife or scissors.

  • Stack your notepad. 1 cardboard goes on the bottom, stack of ruled paper on the middle, and 1 cardboard on the top for its cover. Tap the edges on a flat surface so that one side is as flat as it can be.

  • Once they're all stacked nicely, secure it with a couple binder clips. You can also add another sheet of paper on top and bottom of the stack to protect the notepad from glue drips.

  • With the brush, apply 2-3 coats of glue on the side where the notepad will be held together. Let it dry completely.

  • Once the glue is dried, peel off the paper you put on top and bottom of the stack. Now for the spine, cut a strip of craft paper. Remember that the size depends on your notepad, mine is 1.5 inches wide and 3.5 inches long.
  • Place the strip of paper over the spine, and crease the edges to mark you spot. Glue the strip onto the spine of the notepad. Let it dry.

  • Done! You now have your customized peel off notepad!
